Ardent correctly points out that the value of one life is of infinite value to those who know and love that person. Hence any loss of life is intolerable. A logical argument as far as it goes.

But where has ardent been for the last 35 years while Saddam and his cronies have been murdering hundreds of thousands? Maybe I don't get out enough and have missed him on his soapbox at every possible public forum decrying the intolerable loss of innocent life in Iraq and its neighbours under Saddam. Or maybe ardent is only an apologist for Saddam and will tolerate any atrocity from him while criticising the attempts of any other country or their leaders to deal with the problem.

Make up your own minds .....
