re: is nab down??? I use Citigroup and pay their Capital Plus fee.
The fee is a percentage of funds held with them.
I can place as many trades (ex Options) as I like for that one fee. My average brokerage is $17.00 per trade. Thats a lot cheaper than the online brokers.
I also get the benefit of full service brokers, including data
