Cocomam, you need to understand. These laws are as much about putting preventative measures in place to discourage jihadists from going abroad as it is from stopping them from coming back.
The problem is, most Australians know our courts are as weak as piss and know that they would be out in no time. If we can't trust our courts to protect our children by giving average of 2 years for child rapiats, most don't trust them to punish terrorists adequately as well.
We are wasting our time posting about kicking a handful of scumbag lunatics out of our country.
If we trust our government to give citizenship, I can trust them to take it away as far as terrorists are concerned.
For the record, I dint exactly agree on making someone stateless for the very reasons you stated. However, in this case it is also used as a deterrent even though I woukd prefer them all to go. I wholeheartedly agree in stripping duel citizenship.
Many of course just want a bit of karma to come their way prior to even coming to the issue of stripping citizenship.
I trust this gov far far more than the opposition in protect us and preserving our culture. I've always been a labor voter (till 2 elections ago) and I am so disillusioned with labor, especially in their ability to act in the best interests of Australia.
