As a guy in their early 20's, it was a lot more recent than yours.
Yes, they teach them how babies are made and where they come from.
But any acts that homosexual couples participate in isn't going to be taught, it's unnecessary for children. They will understand that two males/females cannot have children. They will know why that is, things that kids are already taught.
I'm torn when it comes to the appropriate age though, you can't teach them too late when, but sometimes it does indeed feel a bit early.
