    "THEY ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL INHABITANTS Where is the proof?"

    I worked north of the Roper river & out to the coast opposite Gryote island back in the 90's out through southern Arnhem land clearing an easement parallel with the track using bulldozers & graders etc.
    There was an area flagged off in one place for archeological reasons & the aboriginal guide who was guiding the dozer through the bush ignored the flags & took the dozer right into the middle of the site.
    When asked the reason he replied "that not our stuff, that there before us fella came here".
    Clearly a reference to the peoples who occupied the area before aboriginal arrival.
    There were pre stone age tools in the site which the local indigenous were clearly aware of & had no respect for.
    A far different story when confronted with some of their own "sites" of various types.
    The topic was freely discussed by them to me when asked but they would of course deny it if the govt or media would have asked.
