Its important to understand that this technology will work regardless of the underlying infrastructure that it operates over. It is bandwidth optimisation. It's not about making the "NBN" or any internet connection obsolete it is about improving the ability to use the bandwidth availabile - more with less.

I'll also add that NBN only covers fixed line connections, it doesnt help for mobile and here in AU (especially) our mobile data costs are HUGE. This reduces the amount of data delivered to your mobile device and thus reduces costs.
