If I, for example, made an expense claim for a taxi ride to my brother's wedding and claimed it off my employer, it would be a false claim as it is not work related. If my employer found out, I would not be asked to pay the money back, I would be taken into a meeting room, given my notice, have my building access pass taken off me and escorted out of the building by security. Such is life in the corporate world. It is shame the same rules do not apply to politicians, whether Liberal or Labor.
