I'm my many years about 50% of the women who once having conned the welfare agency that they had been belted or beaten in a terrible DV situation would then ask and sometimes not to have their partner join them in their nicer apartment which might be funded by welfare agencies for several weeks until they were found public housing at much cheaper rents. The levels fraud is real from my actual experience but the welfare agencies must know but rely on it like a drug for their own existence. That is why we need more and better research before we blame and demonise the men alone in the complexity of couple relationships.

Friends had their daughter\step daughter attempt to get Government payments, claiming she could not live at home because of sexual abuse.
It turned out after investigation and putting the parents through hell, the daughter\step daughter had fabricated the story in an attempt to get financial assistance from the government, (it was just about the money).
A system that encourages people to lie is deeply flawed.
