If AGO is such a great company why didn't the institutional investors take up their allocations, prefering instead to allow their exposure to decline below substantial holding thresholds ? Instituations have a far better access to company execs and info than retail shareholders.
And as for not wanting 5 cent shares to collapse down the toilet - they're down 30% already, which is a bit toilety really.. There are a few hurdles coming up (1) the 1/4ly is likely to show high cash burn and low cash levels; (2) the reaction of the debt holders to the poor uptake in the raising is unknown / not being disclosed or postulated; (3) the potential asset writedowns, forecast as $160m in April but likely to be bigger; (4) the affect of low assets and high debt on the asset:debt ratio remaining above 2.
If the 1/4ly was tearingly good it would have been out to support the relisting and the CR. Expect "glass half full" "doing it for Aussie" "taking care of the employees" motherhood statements tomorrow.
As for the individual investing $288k, their investment strategy and capacity for losses may support a far higher risk than you do. If you saw someone burning cash in the street, would you join in - definitely not. Such a person might be mentally unstable and hence not a good role model. Just because someone else does it doesn't mean its good for all.
The common justification prior to the CR was the Pilbara Kardashian's pledge to buy some shares. AGO still haven't announced how many he bought - odd, it was headline new a few months back.
