IMO, its got nothing to do with politics. The aircraft part was found on French territory so thats probably why it goes to the nearest French facility capable of analysing/inspecting it properly. In this instance, Toulouse. The French are very capable of dealing with this - I don't see the Malaysians (it was their plane) or the USA (it was built there) or the Chinese (most of the passengers were Chinese) kicking up a fuss about it.

Separately, many have asked why the search continues off WA. That is because it is still believed that that is where the aircraft went down. The fact that the flaperon (probably) floated and was taken by currents to Reunion does not negate anything.

Finally, and above all, we should all spare a thought for the grieving families and friends of the passengers and give the conspiracy theories a well deserved rest.
