Oh I understand all that, don't get me wrong.

I couldn't give a flyer about same sex marriage all things considered. If it makes a bunch of people happy who otherwise wouldn't be and has no tangible effect on my life, then go nuts.

But it is quite amazing to consider just how unpopular Abbott could/will become once this economic cycle is done turning (and it has plenty to go). I have the tiniest shred of sympathy. It isn't his fault China faces a hard landing, commodities crashed, QE ended that was inflating all this etc. But in the same line of reasoning if wasn't Rudd/Gillard's fault the GFC happened.

But wow, what is inexcusable is the complete and utter lack of contingency planning, foresight or political bravery to attempt reform get us through. Blind Freddy can see economically, the only plan is re-election. That is 12 months+ away at a time when without something, anything to get things going the golden 20+ year run recession free is coming to an end. Ultimately, it isn't Australia's fault Abbott blew all his political capital in 2014, but you better believe it is us that are going to pay for it.

Completely inexcusable. Anyone arguing otherwise is so blinded by partisan politics I hardly bother any more paying lip service..
