So true Moloch. They say ignorance is bliss. Sadly that adage doesn't stack up in the stock market.
Anyway, as I have posted several times already, SYR getting a 100% fully underwritten equity raising was much better than going for debt. With commodity and stock markets diving all over the world any company with large amounts of debt is under the gun. Especially companies that don't yet have a revenue source. It would have been absolute stupidity for SYR to go for debt funding. So well done SYR management.
Getting such a large amount of equity funding from the market when they did is the company maker move that puts SYR further in front of the pack. SYR is not obligated to any 3rd party and can continue to build the company and develop the project in order to create future wealth for their shareholders. SP gyrations should be background noise for most, but also opportunities for the quick and nimble. Sure that includes the shorters as well......... damn their souls to hell and also the regulators for allowing such insidious practice. It was obvious what the shorters were playing at and in this case they walk away with a win.
So, the shorters get the opportunity to cover off market and profit a nice bag of cash. If they do that now then they are likely to reload and fire again. Although, the smarter ones might be wary of the announcements in the pipeline that should be catalysts for SP boosts.
It pays to prepare for these situations especially anticipating the likely moves of market players and the effects on the SP. As you said Moloch, some would have and most others likely not. However, it is all about the destination and not about the stops along the journey.
Cheers
