"its Main Street v Wall Street"
I am not sure that one can do without the other. This doesn't forgive bad (or stupid) behaviour by one or other or both, but they are locked in a symbiotic relations. To kill one, is too kill both.
After accepting that we can have a reasonable discussion about equity in the balance between the two. I agree that the benefits have leaned to much toward Wall Street in the 2000's, and actions like Dodd-Frank and enforcement of Basel III are very necessary. But I don't think that the vilification of Wall Street has achieved anything constructive. If anything it has been a distraction from the real issues.
Afterthought:
I am not sure what to make of my imagined wealth and connections. Would that it were true? LOL
My mates in Mallorca are mostly Mallorceans (and speak Catalan!). Some are retired, some run cafes and restaurants or work on the boats. None of them are particularly wealthy or poor. And I don't own a car.
