The 2013 results were not unexpected and they provided a mandate to the Abbott Government based on a platform of trust and keeping all their election promises. Unfortunately for the voters that trust was broken in record time and in no uncertain terms and its no wonder that the polls over the past 18 months reflect the Abbott government in a losing position. That doesn't mean to say that the next election result is guaranteed as changes in circumstance can lead to changes to voter sentiment. The polling trend will be a guide as to what may be the likely outcome. Sometimes a single incident can turn voter sentiment away from the poll trend at election time eg. the children overboard incident brought voters back to the Howard Government which was unexpectedly re-elected.

However to totally attempt to discredit polls as BenBradley has done and insult those polled as "know nothings" is a ludicrous proposition.

    cheers
