Not sure 100 yrs, haven't live that long. But stock market have crashed many times in the past 100 years.... many has gone bankrupt for excessive stock market gambling. I play seasonal stock market too..... But the wealthy always has a mixture of Gold, Land, business & some stock holding. Australian property & gold bullion have gone up quite significantly in the past decades.

Stock market.... depends on stock selection... many lost the lot.
