Quoting asset price in the 15-35 years hold is just a debate between buy and hold versus trading. Both have their weakness and strength and both require timing as opposed to simply buy/sell with gut feel.
How many would be happy to buy pre- GFC in the 800 bucks level and still be holding now having experience only euphoria?
Who cares if it is a floating gain. You haven't sold an investment, you haven't made a dime.
Generally speaking an on going debate is whether brick n mortar is better than equities. Either is only as good as the holder can buy or sell at the most opportune time.
I have been through these spikes in valuation both direction to be sufficiently educated by the process to expect if I have a dillema of an exponential value spike in my favor, I should not take things for granted. In addition, I don't want to hold an investment in heavy draw down mode because any further temptation is like scared money trying to chase only a sure thing investment.
However if you are a serious trapped bull then you only have 2 options, time and blind hope.
