I am not particularly OK with funding Mosques and do not donate directly to this cause. However - a: it is a long stretch to suggest that this money is of any particular significance. From what I understand the certification money mostly pays the wages of those involved in the certification, and sure, maybe some left over went to Mosques where some of them held views that I would not find pleasant. I think the term 'brainwashing' is a bit much though - I don't really believe in the concept of brainwashing at all.
On the other hand, Abbott was the prime minister of Australia, and his conservatism was clearly causing direct problems with a number of things, one of which was his downgrading of science from Ministerial status. Secondly, Bernardi is a significant powerbroker in the Libs.
Like I said, if some conservative Imam were to start rising up in Australian politics, rest assured I would be one of the first people out there mocking him. But this is not happening, all we have is Ed Husic, who is as plain as paper.
