Great find@FullMoonFever
So.. lets connect the dots...
Place pencil here at dot 1. This is from a post of mine a couple of weeks ago:
Iphone 6s details have now been launched and they have a 5mp front facing camera and new flash feature that uses the screens display. From Apple Website, "Retina Flash is powered by an innovative technology — a custom display chip that allows the display to flash three times brighter than usual." To me, these phones will be capable of using our tech now because of this and if we launch properly in 6-9 months or so (based on the rough timelines mentioned in the video) this may co-inside with the next apple iphone launch.
...move pencil here to dot 2. This is an extract from the patent you found:
"The user liveliness detection system (based on corneal image reflection) 104 may work in conjunction with a display element and camera of the client device 106, as will be explained in greater detail below, to verify that a security image sent to the client 106 is reflected in the cornea of the user 108 as an indicator that the user is a live person"
Thoughts? Maybe the tech will work with all displays, but the Apple link just stood out for me. Anyway, I'm hopeful of the next 6-9 months.
Attached is the supporting drawings from the patent. The image was a little harder to find so I thought I would upload the files for all here. Have a look at all of these drawings, especially Fig 2 as it refers to above.
