Abbott had good policies but had too much baggage from his years as opposition leader to get that fresh air you mentioned. No honeymoon for him as PM which Turnbull is currently enjoying.
Luckily for Malcolm his stint as opposition leader was short and unmemorable.
If Turnbull sticks to the Abbott policies, which he has so far, and gets a free pass from the ABC, Fairfax etc, which he has so far, then the unions and their puppets will be kept out of power.
