Former Prime Ministers do the party great and loyal service when they walk away and allow clean air for the new leader. To remain fosters suspicion that can poison the atmosphere as the abbott and turnbull supporters eye each other off. If that happens the winner will be- Bill Shorten and Labor.

time for Abbott to get on his bike, ambassador to the Vatican would be a good fit. He can contribute nothing now and will only fuel disquiet. Be the bigger man Mr Abbott and walk into the sunset.
