overall interesting "discussion" people - though I might have learned more from the obviously knowledgeable Steve70 if his ego hadn't got in the way sometimes. What puzzles me a bit is why all the different versions of Linux? - you don't have to answer that.....

I hate all things Microsoft and with their latest Win10 I've finally had it with their intrusion into people's privacy. Currently using Win 7 but that's the last time I'll ever be using their shite. I agree with Steve70 that Windows would be the more powerful OS, but the penalty you have to pay, being pushed around by that mob of corporate pricks is not the way to go for me. I'll be moving to Linux (whatever) and I'll happily swallow the learning curve to get away from them. I'm sure Linux will provide everything I require for my computing needs. I did attempt the change a few years ago, but it looked to be far to time consuming to be bothered with, hopefully recent Linux versions don't make it as formidable as it used to be?

you seem to be suggesting to load Linux on a DVD then try it - I presume there's nothing wrong with downloading it to a separate partition then running it from there using windows app programs?

    anyhow good discussion....
