Markets love to inflict pain. Lots. The (S&P) short's case has been just too obvious for a while now, as volatility fades, indeed far too many people have been calling it daily for a fortnight and more, that it is so hard to imagine Mr Market not ramming his knee in the shorts back, taking such a magnificent opportunity to twist their arms up seriously hard, as happened Thursday night Stateside.
