Or, it could be that Robert has serious health issues. I work in the health services industry - I can assure you it happens all the time. Serious health issues do not discriminate on the basis of position or wealth. They often come without any warning too. If you were told you had a serious heart condition, or the big C, by a senior doctor, what would you do? When faced with their own mortality, many will choose to resign or retire and concentrate on their health.
