Ahh sailor girl you are from Cairns are you . I will be moving back up there very shortly love the place aswell the only problem is that heater that keeps getting turned on up there each summer. We are lucky in Cairns as it is still quite possible to get a return of around 8% on rental properities which more than cover expenses. My advice to people buy property if it is cash flow positive on the day you buy it that way it will never run at a loss whatever prices do . Do no buy negative geared property as capital gains is not assured. Sailor one thing to note about Cairns property price is even though we are a long way behind the southern states we are still atleast 15% on average higher thn Townsville . I think prices will continue to be flat there for quite some time yet. For all you guys who say just go out and rent come to the gold coast and try to rent a place as a single guy with no rental past , it just dosen`t happen .
