Its all dependent on earnings , Aussie dollar, and the price of commodities.

Are earnings going to improve , go lower or stay stable ?

Is the Aussie dollar going to go lower to asset BHP , rise back towards $1 to hurt them or stay range bound in the 65 to 75 area ?

Is the price of copper , Iron ore etc closer to a long term price , likely to go higher or fall further ?

My opinion is we don't know , but we do know the market has written down the expectations , so on that basis i support the $30 + theory, as for the last 5 years we have seen the same thing occur after a period of weakness

For what its worth , i think bhp is leaner and meaner now than it has ever been , the Aussie will stay where it is , and commodities will rise by 5-10% in price and stabilize , and unlikely to see Iron ore over $65 for many years to come , but also unlikely to see it below $40
