I know that most of the general trading public (mums and dads) dislike shorters, even though it is just another way of trading; and you are right in saying that most of them are mainly brokers or at least in bed with them. I think it is just the way they go about doing things that rubbed people the wrong way. ASSIC doesn't help!

I am all for a fair go but they don't paly in a level playing field. For example:
1. They obviously don't pay the same brokerage as you and I do to start with, otherwise they cannot transact in the small numbers of shares.
2. They can bid and transact in increments that you and I don't have access to.
3. They know the limits for the pump and dump cause they set them.
Just these conditions alone would give them huge advantage over every one else.

I must say though that they are very astude in their use of information. For example, if there is some sort of announcement tomorrow on the Athena heading for Senegal, my guess then is they would pump the SP to 10+ (say) and then dumped back to say 9+. As we get closer to final results, these two figures will gradually move up. But being small players, are we prepared for the "FOMO"? We can't really follow them cause we don't know the set limits and also we are always thinking "is this time for real?" or "do they know something that we don't?". Just my thoughts.

There are still 50-60 million shorts opened. I just hope that they get caught by left field events, else they will just play it all the way up to final results.
