I too think it's an excellent idea to aim for a small size device with opportunity to add to an array as demand and confidence increases. On the size of the Protean WEC I assumed that a number of factors came into play including cost to manufacture, weight - associated with the patented deployment system which would impact upon the time taken, cost and ease of deployment, and the projected cost and earning potential of each device. I was hopeful that with Caltec technicians involved there might be scope to perhaps fine tune the device to add to it's potential Kwh output, e.g. does the colour, temperature, materials, weight etc. impact upon output? The company also needs to examine how the devices operate when in an array, what is the optimum distance apart? Does their movement actually increase when in closer proximity to each other, etc? Another thing, is there an optimum distance from shore e.g. does an array operate better in breaking waves? I assume these are some of many things they are currently researching.

I also agree with you on CWE. CETO is a good idea and the device being below the surface can have a low environmental impact. But looking at it it must cost a fair bit to set up, and this is money a user has to put up prior to any earning from the device.

Have you done any research on the potentials and pitfalls of selling individual devices?

Chilloutman I haven't changed my tune - I see the potential for Protean in certain markets but would like to understand the economics. If you weren't so busy ramping this stock and quick to bully anyone who asked questions you might do well to be open to rational discussion. Your sheer arrogance is blinding you to the risks here and it will be your financial downfall.
