    Islay, you don't remember grandparents as paid providers being discussed in this forum? Earlier this year on the GEM forum you wrote: "The appointment of the hard hitting minister Scott Morrison to the early childhood portfolio will prove to be a positive for parents, as I expect him to deliver 'flexible childcare' = subsidies for in home nannies and grandparents who care for their grandchildren. There is no doubt that, if 'flexible childcare' is introduced it will hurt the corporate sector." I also recall an earlier discussion of this matter (late 2014?), but likely too old to retrieve (not sure who posted the earlier comments about grandparents competing with GEM).

    Meanwhile, thanks to all for adding useful content to this topic, such as fee subsidies etc in other countries. A common theme is that increasing living costs (esp housing) is squeezing parents more than ever, leaving fewer funds to pay for child care in this country.
