1) This chip design is nowhere near the complexity of even a simple animal brain, and doesn't need to be that complicated to do useful processing.
2) One fundamental difference between BrainChip and many other chips such as TrueNorth is that Learning happens on-board the BrainChip hardware; Learning does not happen on the TrueNorth chip. IBM's TrueNorth uses code (corelets) developed by programmers in a Software development environment which simulates the TrueNorth hardware. These corelets are then loaded onto the TrueNorth.
