T, these things are really cool.

They produce power outside daylight hours and the actual battery is no more than a tank and some molten salt. How much does that battery cost/kwh is my question and how often do they need to replace the salt and what is the efficiency of the heat engine. The mirrors shouldn't degrade, may need a clean from time to time but overall the system I feel would have a fairly decent lifespan - or maybe a dream run.

    Here's a good short vid.

Had a look at Lloyd .... using graphite eh ... looks interesting, never seen it before. Ta.

EVM uses temperature differential via a chimney. Every 100m you go up the temp drops by 1 deg.

So what they proposed was to build a very tall chimney and surround it with acres and acres clear sheets on a frame that traps the heat underneath and as we know hot air rises the air rushes from the outside to the chimney and up. The first chimney was supposed to be 1km high but they have scaled it back I believe to about 600m. Power is generated via wind turbines placed in the side at the base of the chimney. Great idea but has been in the oven for years. Virtually maintenance free except for dirt buildup. Can also use molten salt to extend the range. One of the first shares I owned after Time named it best invention of the year or something like that.
