I am not sure that LumiMEMS would react this way to directional movement at all Senator.
The whole idea of LumiMEMS is to have the surface of the chip covered with micro cantilevers, doped with a substrate which then vibrate (resonate) in the presence of the chemical or biochemical substance that the dope is set to trigger from.
Remember that lumiMEMS itself is immune to harsh environments and Vibration and because it is optical does not require electronics or external power in order to operate.
That's why we can chuck it down a mine shaft.
