From that video of IK talking to the LV residents last month he explained it well. That brown coal mining pits in the Latrobe Valley have no overburden available to fill up the pits now that the brown coal has been taken out and burnt. And IK said there is also no plan to fill up the pits so he told the residents that they would be left with these pits full of water. Mantle's plan would be to float solar panels on the water in the pits ( the cooling air of the water cools the solar panels- when solar panels hit a certain temperature they lose efficiency) use the water as a hydro source coupled by pipes with the abandoned underground coking coal mine nearby, which IK hopes to find and mine first. Hard to argue with the green credentials of that plan! No coal used for thermal power plants, has a use for the abandoned LV brown coal pits and produces green power for night time/peak consumption. Like to see the greens shoot holes through those plans!

hold the coal allocation for HRL according to Vic Gov site. They also appear to have a current mining license.
Mantle's EL5210 looking better all the time from a "prospective LV brown coal project seeking coal" perspective IMO.
