Once upon a time, not all that long ago, if someone wanted their opinion/rant/thoughts heard they had to find a piece of paper and a quill/pen/typewriter, sit down and compose their thoughts, write it out, fold it up and put it into an envelope, stick on a stamp, walk to the post office box and hope that some overworked and underpaid editor would choose theirs out of hundreds of similar opinions/rants/thoughts.

Now we have the Internet And the sort of "discussions" which we are reading on this thread will be the way of the future. Kinda scary. Most of it is just egotism with an added dash of greed/insecurity. Throw in some money and you have an interesting cocktail.

My unsolicited advice to any new people here who might be finding this a bit scary? You are presumably an adult using your own money. How you spend it is entirely your choice. If you decide to enter this stock market lottery then you are entirely responsible for your own decisions. Do not bore everyone to death with conspiracy theories if it all goes pear-shaped. Have an exit strategy based on your personal circumstances, risk tolerance, time frame. You will find some objective and experienced traders/investors on HC, but you'll need time to find them - do your homework.

I wish you all the very best. It can be rewarding. You can also lose your shirt. Be prepared and try to be nice to each other - this isn't easy for anyone.
