Banjar old fella, back in my time "religious Freedom" was actually in the Indonesian Constitution. I encountered many Christians and even 1 Seventh Day Adventist.
Spent a fair bit of time in Ciamis/Tasikmalaya area, no probs.
But that was in 90, 91, and there had been no activity against Christians anywhere to my knowledge.
My saviour during a critical phase during Ramadan was a Christian Indonesian called Mingus from Iryan Jaya. Worked like a trojan when the others were weak from fasting (they reckoned, lol).
No religious probs back then. But then again, one of the conditions of our "Surat Jalan's" was to stay away from places of worship.

    Cheers
    GZ
