I don't think you can deduce anything from his announcement about how it was done. CEOs who own a significant holding in a company don't go out kicking and screaming it's damaging to the share price. There is a certain level of self interest which will always be present and his roughly $2.5mil in shares generally would ensure he doesn't bag anyone.
