Naughty Unions... it's a wonderful thing that business and government in Australia are so clean and free of the corrupt practices and criminal activities displayed so frequently by the unions, it's clear from court records that the number of cases brought against unions and the number of convictions deliverered far outweigh those of any other sector......... hmmm or does it......... now wait a minute the numbers don't seem to balance here...... is it possible that union corruption whilst it happens is far less frequent than the levels of corruption in business and government... so what's going on here, is it just a smear campaign... i mean they do say if you repeat a statement often enough then most people will believe it's true... hmmmmm.

    Business Corruption in Australia

Corruption is not reported to be a significant obstacle to doing business in Australia, which is known for its well-functioning and independent judiciary, transparent regulatory climate and overall low levels of corruption. However, corruption risks remain - particularly in regard to foreign bribery - due to insufficient enforcement of corruption-related legislation. The Criminal Code Act 1995 covers bribery of foreign and domestic public officials, while each of Australia's states and territories has its own anti-corruption provisions. Australian political parties commonly receive gifts and hospitality, but there is little information available on gifts and hospitality in the private sector. Provided they are recorded, facilitation payments are legal in Australia. Recent high-profile corruption scandals involving Australian public officials, most notably in the border protection services and the public procurement sector, have shed light on the lack of enforcement of Australia's anti-bribery provisions in the Criminal Code.
