re: its not soccer you americanized zombies tex,
a visiting socioligist once stated that he didnt believe the AFL game should go international, he said that we had something unique and culturally special and it probably should be kept as such in AUstralia.
Why are we so keen to see our game played across the world?
What will that do for the sport? Does that make it better than other sports if it is played in other countries as well?
Its great that soccer is played in the International Arena, how else can they get anyone to watch it?
A friend told me that he had a visiting english friend out here and he couldnt believe that they were going to walk into the same pub as supporters of the other team. It would not be done in England. Why? Violence!
Its not something we want or need here and yet seems to follow the game worldwide. Maybe because of the lack of physical contact on the ground that people still have their anger at the end of the game.
Anyway good luck to the aussies, and may many flares be let off in the name of soccer.
cheers andrewe
