They might have decided to commission some coal power to make them less dependant on Russian gas. The situation in Europe is unstable and security could dictate different solutions in the short term.

They most likely decided that they needed something that can actually provide BASE LOAD power!

Sorry, but solar and wind just doesn't cut it.
