Do YOU 'know how to read the signs'?

What I've noticed is that people love writing fiction stories about stock movements, but no one seems to be able to use the retro-fitted information to make reliable predictions. To me, that's a clear signal that, in fact, no one knows how to read the bots, and all this kind of analysis is just used to 'feel good'.

Certainly no one here managed to predict the fall from 1.40 by observing the bots. Even when we knew that JPM sold a parcel, no one was writing about how they could see the coming falls by observing the bot action. No, everyone was trying to explain away JPM's sales as a freak anomaly.

To me, it makes no sense that you'd be able to read the bots anyway. Bots are programmed by 'quants' (math geniuses) so wouldn't you think these super smart people would apply all kinds of strategies to prevent you from being able to read the direction? The whole point of bots is to allow large buys and large sells to occur without showing the hand of the buyer or seller. Then, if you imagine that it's not just one bot, but multiple, some selling and some buying at the same time. The whole idea of being able to read this stuff falls over in a heap.
