I suspect Dave is not worn out - or at least that is not why he is gone. Up until a couple of weeks ago he was busy talking things up and if he was wanting to leave for "personal reasons" he would have resigned and allowed a transition to a new CEO in a timely manner. If he was going to a competitor he would have resigned and then been sent on gardening leave. The fact that he has been given a package that is in line with the terms in his contract relating to "termination without cause" says it all.
