It's not my thoughts on the matter, it's the results of a detailed study into the cost of producing power.
What makes you think it's not reliable? Can you imagine the problems they have mining coal to feed a power station that needs regular maintenance. Compare that to a large solar powerstation and the simplicity that everyone complains about because so few people are needed to run it, if any.
Once again, they are cost effective now. Cheaper than a new coal power station and much cheaper than nuclear.
As you so rightly say, "any country would be stupid to not have all of their power as renewable." I agree and you have to wonder what is going on?
