What you are referring to is not volatility. You are describing share price movements over 9 years whereas volatility is short term fluctuation. A higher volatility means that the SP can change dramatically over a short time period in either direction. CAJ has been heading steadily downwards since April this year. A lower volatility means that the SP changes in value at a steady pace over a period of time. That best describes CAJ. So if the past repeats and it may or may not, then we should see a higher SP over the next few years.
