In the organisation I work in, 95% of managers serve no purpose.
My own 'manager' relies on our team leader under her to have any idea what is going on. She couldn't do the job, and she doesn't interact with any of us. I don't know what she does at all, to be honest, other than 'approve' things when she has no idea what the impact of said thing is either way.

Many people with 'manager' in the title seem to be simply filling a seat, and as long as someone higher can say 'are things completely f*cked or are they reasonably ok', and the answer is the second one, despite having nothing to do with said manager, keeps them in that seat doing nothing.


But yeah, the DS fire sale is a bit scary. The whole business model needs a shakeup so it isn't just a directionless, more expensive version of JB Hifi with unfriendly staff. Flogging off TVs at a loss doesn't fix a whole lot there.
