Dan1, you shouldn't confuse 'free speech' with abuse of of the freedom to speak freely.
Under Tony Abbott's regime, mainstream Australians who make comments deemed to be inciteful can be labeled terrorists and held to account as such. Their homes, cars and computers can be raided without notice and with the media there to broadcast images of raids against alleged terrorists.
But now we have a chorus of eminent public figures blasting Abbott for comments they allege are counter-productive, damaging to the community fabric, divisive and inflammatory; from the UN to British Tories, to our own PM, to Church leaders and to other nations and including Indonesia.
So when do the same rules Abbott has applied to you and I get applied to him?
