It probably wasn't built out of wood. The word for wood can be variously interpreted as branches, reeds or wood. A reed boat of raft could easily have been built to those dimensions and was sometimes coated with pitch for longevity - although one that size would have taken a lot of pitch! As for gopher, nobody knows what that word means.
