As a stand alone project it might not be. But the above ground gold already easily repays the capex for the plant. All the underground gold has to pay for is capex for the underground mine as such. All the rest goes to opex and profit. And the resource is rather close to the ground floor, i.e. mining it should be relatively cheap.
So far, almost all the companies financial assumptions* have been conservative and improved upon during operations. Don't see any reason to doubt them now re: underground mining ...
*the big exception of course being the NSW government sitting on their asses re: our permits .... grr ...
