Yep I've read the CPB bidders report......what strikes me about this report is the endless references to PAST performances of the company, and then drawing conclusions about possible future performance from things that were occurring 4 years ago......it's a classic technical traders analysis.....it looks backwards not ahead. Sure there were isssues with high debt and the accounting writeoffs, but the company is positioned perfectly now to enjoy the volume growth in export coal which is NOW only really about to kick in. Sure the coal markets have been pretty strong over the past 5 years, but it is only now that we are seeing infrastructure expansions come on stream which promise the heftiest leap in coal export volumes we have EVER SEEN in this country. The CPB report is a case of only looking at part of the facts and then extrapolating on them.
The CHL targets statement will tell shareholders what they really want to know: WHAT THE EXPECTATIONS ARE FOR THE BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE- not a rerun of the past performances of the company. I've held some of my shares in CHL since late 2003......This release by the company is the type of announcement I have been waiting for over the last 2-3 years.....This will be the release which significantly changes the market perception of this stock in a positive way.....pretty exciting stuff :-)
