I think we did have surpluses in the 50's.

What I do know is the current nett international position of australia is a deficit of 571 BILLION dollars.

That equals around 26 Grand for EVERY man woman and child alive in Australia right now.

How many LCD TV's will the Asians keep sending us at this rate?????

The only way it will be "repaid" back will be via the continued deflation of the Aussie dollar as it already has been just like every other fiat currency has.

Unfortunately this also slowly steals away our own wealth because we all earn the same dollars so in the end we also kid ourselves.

What makes me choke is people thinking that inflation of 2-3% is OK.

Use a calculator and work out how quickly the value of your dollar erodes away.
