Probably Chinese getting organised for the Chinese New Year, when a lot will travel overseas.
I think Chinese New Year starts February 8th and they have a week's public holiday which is National and mandatory, as far as I know.
I do know planeloads of Chinese are booked to arrive in Cairns, Far North Qld for that holiday.
