I'm not convinced CIMIC will want to buy MAH outright, however, I am certain they want control - CIMIC's behaviour at the AGM is a clear demonstration of this. With a current shareholding of about 20% they are kind of in no man's land - no position on the board, no management influence, nothing.
The case against acquisition includes the triggering of contract "change of control" clauses and, if not, then at the very least a renegotiation of the Tropicana contract and possibly also Martabe.
The case for would simply be realisation of synergies and asset values greater than book value......if anyone has a need for plant!
